Team Sky – Stages or Shimano
Getting your company’s power meters on the Team Sky bikes is total confirmation that you have one of the best products in the world. In the last couple of seasons it’s been STAGES providing the power meters for Team Sky. For the 2018 season it seems that Team Sky will be using BOTH Stages LR and the new Shimano R9100-P power meter.
In an email to BikeRadar Tim Hillsdon of Shimano said
As the Stages release says, neither company is the exclusive provider of power meters to the team. We supply to the team on a non-exclusive basis.
A similar announcement came from the team at Stages – confirming the non-exclusive provision of power meters to Team Sky.

Stages LR Power Meter on Team Sky
A press release from Stages said
Stages will continue their support of Team Sky, who has ridden the Stages Power LR meter to their last two Tour de France victories
The Stages LR is the power meter being used providing power readings from both Left and Right legs. In a Stages Press release in Aug 2017 they said “It has of course been tested at the top end of the sport by Team Sky, who were instrumental in providing feedback and data. Particularly helpful in product development were Chris Froome, who won the 2015 Tour de France on an early production model, and Ian Stannard, who won the Omloop Het Nieuwsbladon with it 2014.”
